Terms of Service
Effective September 28, 2026
These terms cover your use of the MyVetDesk desktop app and the myvetdesk.com website ("MyVetDesk"), provided by John Shoufler ("we", "us"). By downloading or using MyVetDesk, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. What MyVetDesk is
MyVetDesk is a free self-help tool. It helps you organize your own information, gather your own records from websites you log in to yourself, understand VA's published rating rules, draft statements for you to review, and fill in information on your own VA forms. You decide what to file, and you press Submit yourself.
2. What MyVetDesk is not
- Not affiliated with the government. MyVetDesk is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense or any military branch.
- Not a VA-accredited representative. We do not represent you before VA, file claims for you, or act as your agent, attorney or claims agent.
- Not legal, medical or financial advice. Information in the app, including anything the AI assistant writes, is general information to help you organize your own claim. It is not a substitute for advice from an accredited representative, attorney or doctor.
- No guarantees. We can't promise any rating, decision, back pay or outcome. VA decides your claim.
Free help from accredited representatives is available through Veterans Service Organizations such as DAV, VFW and the American Legion. You can find one at VA.gov.
3. Free, with no fees
MyVetDesk is free. We never charge a fee to prepare or file a claim, never take a percentage of your benefits or back pay, and never charge based on the outcome of your claim.
4. Your AI account and its costs
The AI features use your own account with an AI company you choose (such as Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI). You pay that company directly for your use, under their terms. MyVetDesk does not charge you for AI use and does not receive or control those payments. Any cost estimates shown in the app are estimates only. We recommend setting a spending limit in your AI account.
5. You are responsible for what you file
- Everything you submit to VA or anyone else must be true and accurate. VA forms are signed under penalty of law, and false statements can have serious consequences.
- AI can make mistakes. Review every record summary, statement and form entry carefully, and change or remove anything that isn't correct before you use it.
- MyVetDesk requires you to confirm statements are true before they can be exported, and it will not press Submit, sign or certify for you. You make the final decision on everything.
6. Your accounts and websites you use
You log in to websites such as VA.gov, patient portals and insurance sites yourself, inside the app's built-in browser. You are responsible for your own accounts and for following those websites' terms. Don't use MyVetDesk to access anyone else's accounts or records without their permission.
7. Acceptable use
- Use MyVetDesk for your own claim, or to help a family member with their permission.
- Don't use MyVetDesk to prepare or present VA claims for others in exchange for a fee or other compensation, or in any way that would require VA accreditation.
- Don't use it to submit false information, to break the law, or to interfere with VA or other websites.
- Don't sell, rent or charge others for MyVetDesk.
8. Your information
Your case files stay on your computer. See our Privacy Policy for details.
9. Support payments
Support payments are completely optional. They go to the developer to help cover costs of running MyVetDesk. They are not tax-deductible charitable donations, they are not payment for any service, and they never affect how MyVetDesk works for anyone. Support payments are not refundable except where required by law.
10. Updates and availability
We may update, change or stop offering MyVetDesk at any time. Websites like VA.gov change often, so some features may stop working until they are updated.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
MyVetDesk is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any claim decision, delay, lost benefits, AI charges or data loss, arising from your use of MyVetDesk. Because MyVetDesk is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to $50.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas and applicable federal law.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use MyVetDesk after a change means you accept the updated terms.
