Privacy Policy

The short version
MyVetDesk runs on your own computer. Your answers, records and case files are saved only on your computer. MyVetDesk has no servers that receive, store or look at your case information, and it does not use analytics or tracking. The only things the app ever sends us are optional and described below.
What stays on your computer
- Your interview answers, case folder, downloaded records, notes and statement drafts are saved in a folder on your computer (in your Documents folder, under "MyVetDesk").
- The websites you log in to inside the app (such as VA.gov, patient portals and insurance sites) keep their sign-in cookies in a private browser storage for your case, on your computer.
- Your AI key is encrypted using your computer's built-in secure storage (Keychain on Mac, Data Protection on Windows).
Your passwords
You type your own passwords directly into the websites you use. MyVetDesk does not ask for, record or store them, and the AI assistant is blocked from typing into password fields.
Your AI provider
When you choose to use the AI features, MyVetDesk sends the information needed for the task you ask for (for example, text from a page or a record) directly from your computer to the AI company you connected (Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI), using your own account and key. That company's privacy policy and terms apply to that information:
MyVetDesk does not receive a copy. The interview and organizing steps work without any AI.
What we collect
By default, nothing through the app. Two things are optional and only happen if you choose them:
- Update emails. If you enter your email on our website or in the app, we save your email address, the date, and where you signed up, and use it only to send MyVetDesk updates and important notices. We never sell or share it. To be removed, email support@myvetdesk.com or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- "I filed my claim" count. If you click this button in the app, the app sends one anonymous message saying a claim was filed and whether you use Mac or Windows. It contains no name, email, claim details or records, and we don't store your IP address. We use the total only to know how many veterans MyVetDesk is helping.
If you email us at support@myvetdesk.com, we receive what you choose to send and use it only to answer you. Our website (myvetdesk.com) uses standard web server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security, troubleshooting and counting completed downloads, kept for a short time. Download counts are stored as totals without IP addresses. The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Children
MyVetDesk is intended for adult veterans and their families. It is not directed to children under 13.
Deleting your information
Because everything is on your computer, you are in control. Delete your case folder to delete your case, and uninstall the app to remove it and its stored settings. You can also revoke your AI key at any time from your AI company's account settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
